About Yasu
With more than 30 years of experience in the hair industry, Yasu is a highly skilled Japanese hairstylist specializing in both men’s and women’s hair. His expertise includes Japanese straightening, natural hair control, chemical treatments, and working with naturally curly, wavy, and highly textured hair.
Yasu is known for his calm, patient, and highly attentive approach. Before every service, he carefully listens to your concerns, lifestyle, and hair history, then creates a personalized hair care plan that truly suits your face shape, personality, and daily routine.
Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, into a family of hair professionals—his father a barber and his mother a hairstylist—Yasu was raised in the world of hairdressing. He began his professional career in 1989 and built a strong technical foundation through rigorous training in Japan.
After gaining extensive experience in Japan, Yasu moved overseas and spent more than 15 years working internationally, including in Los Angeles (USA), Brisbane (Australia), and Düsseldorf (Germany). During this time, he obtained his Australian Hairdressing Qualification, studied professional English for hairdressing, and worked for four years in a high-end salon in Brisbane.
His techniques are a unique fusion of precise Japanese craftsmanship and Western cutting, coloring, and styling philosophy. This allows him to adapt his work to a wide variety of hair types, lifestyles, and cultural preferences.
Yasu is also an award-winning hairstylist in Japan, having won first place in Sapporo City hairdressing competitions five times. Even while working overseas, he regularly returned to Japan to give lectures at hairdressing schools and universities, continuously keeping his techniques up to date.
Over the course of his career, Yasu has worked with clients from more than 40 different nationalities, including Asian, European, Middle Eastern, African, and American backgrounds. Whether your hair is straight, wavy, curly, or highly textured, he has the experience and technical understanding to work with it safely and beautifully.
Today, Yasu works primarily in Japan, splitting his time between Sapporo and Yokohama area. He continues to offer a rare level of technical depth, global experience, and personal attention to every client he works with.
